After providing a short overview of the federal cloud computing initiative and the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, this 90-minute workshop will explain the theory and value of a cloud brokerage within the federal cloud computing environment.

 

Presentation: “Cornerstones of Data Center Consolidation: A Case Study”

This case study looks at the key ingredients that enabled the migration of 300-plus systems of data and applications, modernization from a stovepipe structure to an application service provider/infrastructure service provider model and relocation of thousands of personnel with their functions intact within a three-year timeline and without mission interruption. This massive effort required effective planning, communications and a governance structure that allowed for unaccounted decisions to be made about equipment and disposition of existing hardware, software applications and data.
