Data Center Site Optimization & Selection Services
Maybe your data center is reaching power limits, cooling and space—or simply needs to operate more efficiently. Perhaps your executive team has made a pledge to become a "green" company. As the manager responsible for making it all happen—within budget—where do you start? Should you focus on reworking the data center layout, bring in HVAC vendors or upgrade to more energy-efficient devices?
Perhaps your "build vs. lease" analysis is complete and you've decided to move to a co-location site. Choosing a new co-location facility is not an everyday activity for most companies, and the co-location facilities don't simplify your decision. How do you evaluate proposals? Where are the greatest opportunities for negotiation with vendors? Does your real estate executive understand recent changes in data center agreements? How current is your facility team with the variations in technical and cost elements from the providers? Has your site selection team developed a strategy for dependable, cost-effective expansion?
To help you answer these questions, NJVC has partnered with Transitional Data Services (TDS). Together, we have built, managed and optimized more than one million square feet of modern, high-availability data centers.
CFD Modeling
We leverage the latest tools, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), to optimize your facility layout and performance. We conduct "what if" analyses to verify the expected gain from the improvement options before investments are made.
Power and Cooling Assessments
Using the information learned in a site survey and verified in CFD modeling, we make recommendations to improve your data center efficiency, including the full budget impact.
We Are Your Representative
If you decide to move forward with these improvements, we can manage the full process on your behalf. From permits, vendor negotiation and installment to full commissioning, we mange the project. NJVC works directly with the local utility company to maximize their rebates and further improve project ROI. We assist customers in all phases of the site selection process. Custom-built scorecards and a proven RFP format are just some of the tools we've developed to ensure you choose the optimal co-location facility for your company. We can help develop your data center requirements document, identify qualifying sites in the appropriate geographic market, develop and manage the RFP process, analyze and normalize the wide variations in the bids, coordinate and attend site tours, and even identify commonly missed negotiation points.
If the decision is made that additional space at another location is needed, our team is uniquely qualified to advise data center site selection. Our principal partnership team includes former data center owners who have direct experience building and selling co-location space. Additionally, our data center design/build team conducts the critical infrastructure inspections and advises you on the tier equivalency of the data centers under consideration. To date, our site selection engagements have included facilities across North America and Europe.
Our team is fully engaged throughout the total lifecycle of an optimization and/or site selection effort, ensuring your interests and requirements are being addressed. We participate in project management through the construction phase of the project with oversight, owner's representative and peer review services. Additionally, our team ensures that the new data center meets the established uptime, efficiency and "green" objectives.
By leveraging our team, you achieve:
- Twenty-five percent increase in savings on the critical infrastructure costs by establishing a more competitive bid process
- Seventeen-percent increased usable floor space capacity by optimizing the layout
- Increased cooler capacity through efficiency improvements in the implementation of CRAC units, chiller loops and ductwork
- Improvement of the operational performance and reduction in the risk of fire at the site by implementing the new TDS-designed fire detection and suppression systems
